Since the event’s inception in 2007, more than 17,000 students have joined in the Free Day of Yoga to experience the physical, spiritual, emotional and mental benefits of practicing yoga.
“The event spans the whole Metroplex and includes large and small studios specializing in all types of yoga,” says Michelle Mock, founder and head of the DFW Free Day of Yoga volunteer organizing committee. “We hope it will be an opportunity for people to experience the benefits of yoga and see why it is still as valuable today as it has been for thousands of years.”
The Free Day of Yoga concept started in 1999 in Austin, Texas and has since been hosted in cities around the U.S. including Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Houston and even Honolulu. Over the past four years, free classes have been offered at over 100 Dallas / Fort Worth-area studios in communities reaching from Midlothian to Rockwall, from Denton to Waxahachie and all points in between.
Thanks in part to the contributions of community partners such as the Crow Collection of Asian Art, The Propel Group and Luke’s Locker, the event is free for both studios and students.
“We are so proud to support this event,” says Sharon Lucas of Luke’s Locker. “These free classes are an excellent way to demonstrate that yoga has something for everyone regardless of their age, size, gender or experience level. Yoga offers enough breadth to offer a lifetime of fitness.”
Class information can be found at www.DFWfreedayofyoga.com, like us on Facebook at facebook.com/FreeDayofYogaDFW or follow us on Twitter, official profile name FreeDayYogaDFW or by visiting any Dallas / Fort Worth-area Luke’s Locker location for an information card. Students are encouraged to use the website to find classes with convenient locations and times and to RSVP to the studio.
Studios may receive registration information by email at: ContactUs@DFWfreedayofyoga.com.

The FDOY is a gift to all. It allows new students to attend a yoga class as well as seasoned yogis to find a new style. For the entire day, students can experience one practice after another and feel welcomed at each studio.
