Guidelines

As with any type of fitness class, coming prepared can help you get the most from the experience.  These guidelines may help you know what to bring and expect for a DFW Free Day of Yoga class.

  • RSVP for a class if it is requested by studio in the classroom descriptions.
  • Arrive early. Classes are well attended, so arriving early will ensure your mat space.
  • Bring a mat, towel or blanket. This provides a non-skid surface for you to work on.
  • Dress to move. Wear comfortable, athletic type clothing so you can move easily.  Footwear is not required since yoga is practiced barefoot.
  • Practice on an empty stomach. Allow at least one hour after eating or drinking before practicing yoga.
  • Be mindful and respect the limits of your body.

Finding the right teacher or class can be a challenge for those new to yoga or those looking to branch out to a new style.  Here are some tips for making a good connection.

  • Consider what you want from a class and your present physical needs and limitations.
  • Ask a teacher about their training certification or credentials
  • Ask a teacher for advice about which classes are a fit for your requirements or experience level.
  • Take classes in different styles from different teachers until you find the right fit.
